Hello Again,

Been a while since the last update and had plenty of adventure since then. I had a great trip to Micronesia and travelled to the island of Pohnpei.

I had a day to travel around the island and was taken to the ancient Polynesian ruins of Nan Madol.

Nan Madol

After a long day of touring the island, it was only fitting to have a meal at the Tattooed Irishman. Which by the way had a fantastic view. It was an open thatched roof restaurant over looking the ocean.

Great View

Of course there was some work involved so here are a few images of the late night efforts testing one of the sonars that penetrate the deepest depths of the ocean.

And met some old friends…

The morning of the 4th of July I got to relive twice on my return home when I left the vessel.

Was a great place to visit and I will surely return some day. I want to share one more image of one of several awesome sunsets from my vantage point at the hotel.

Thanks for visiting!

I want to thank all of you whom I met at OTC for all of the positive feedback and well wishes for Hegg Marine Solutions. I look forward to working with all of you in the future and I am truly glad to have the opportunity to do so.

Hegg Marine Solutions is now a member of the Hydrographic Society of America and the Marine Ocean Technology Network (who just had their annual meeting last night). I am looking forward to being a part of each of these organizations and will continue to fuel my passion for the industry through mutual collaborations where ever possible.

Look forward to seeing an upcoming article in the June issue of Sea Technology authored by Fred at Hegg Marine Solutions!

Welcome to the first update of the HMS blog!

It has been an exciting few weeks covering a diverse range of projects, just what HMS is all about! The first project supporting the University of South Florida with system integration and a software solution to suit the particular needs of the the university for an upcoming project in the Dry Tortugas .

Project number two for HMS is a project management job for Falmouth Scientific supporting development of some deep water instrumentation. This has been a mutually rewarding synergy, so far for both FSI and HMS.

Continuing on with the diversity, another project supporting the University of Rhode Island. Some system integration, site support and project planning for an upcoming survey this summer.

In other news, a short holiday in Hawaii turned out by chance to be another great opportunity for HMS. The opportunity arose to take part in a survey with Oceanic Imaging Consultants in Pearl Harbor and just a couple sample images are shown below. The first is a sonar image showing the sidescan imaging sonar output and the bathymetry that could be seen on the display when surveying the USS Utah Memorial. Another photo was taken while surveying the area around the USS Arizona Memorial. It was an awe inspiring experience to be on the water conducting a survey at a site with such historical significance.

Off to Houston tomorrow to OTC08, maybe some of us will meet up there! More to come later!
